Bridgeport, NJ – The much anticipated season opener at the Spirit Auto Center Speedway, unfortunately had to be cancelled this morning after analyzing the track conditions and the grounds at the facility.  “I don’t know what’s worse, when the weathermen get it right or get it wrong,” offered GM Danny Serrano.  “The track took on a ton of rain yesterday and we still weren’t really dried out from Tuesday’s rain.  We were hoping the forecast wasn’t what was predicted yesterday.  It turned out that it was all that and then some.”

The first action for 2017 will now be next Friday, April 14.  The same 4-division show that was scheduled for today will now be next Friday.  The wingless 600 micro sprints, winged 270 micros, the I2M Four-Cylinders, and the Speedway’s All-Star Bagel Stop Slingshots will all be in action next Friday evening.  Gates will open at 4:30 pm for safety inspection, while hot laps start at 7:15 and the first green flag of the season will fly at 8pm.  “Hopefully next Friday the sun will be shining and weather will be perfect for these guys.  We have a lot of new faces calling ‘Spirit’ their home this year, and I’m sure they’re just as anxious as our returning Friday night regulars are too,” Serrano added.  For more information you can visit www.spiritspeedway.com or call the office at 856-467-4408.
