Bridgeport, NJ – They say the first win is the hardest! Geordan Marrero took that message to heart as he raced to his second Hyper Racing 600 victory just one week after collecting his first ever Spirit Auto Center win. Friday night’s racing events were sponsored by Fogg Chiropractic.

Alex Swift went two-in-a-row in the 270 ranks while Christopher Laureigh and Hannah Kormann repeated their success stories in the Speedway Entertainment All Star and Junior Slingshots. Richie Keller took the win in the Stage One Modified feature with a last lap pass for the lead.

Dan Leaper looked like a first time winner as he led the way from the start, through several restarts and even the five to go from starter, Kevin Golden. Leaper, Marrero and Matt Peck raced in the top three in the late stages of the race – each just waiting for one of the other drivers to make a mistake.

A lap twenty-two single file restart, saw Geordan Marrero race to the inside of Leaper to take the lead. Marrero led the final three laps to take his second win in a week followed by Leaper, Peck, PJ Williams and Julian Rexrode.

Billy Gray raced into the lead on the first lap of the 270 Micro Sprint feature after a short battle with Dylan DeVault. A three-wide battle on lap two saw Alex Swift move up to second.

Swift raced into the lead on lap ten when Gray got a little wide in traffic. Swift led Gray, DeVault, Shea Wills and Dylan Pence at halfway.

Swift raced to this third win of the season over Gray, Pence, Wills and Cole Wyers.

Christopher Laureigh missed his All Star Slingshot heat race but then started last in the second qualifier and raced to the front for the win. For the feature, Laureigh drew the eighth starting spot, starting right behind his brother, Jonathan in sixth.

Matthew Lashley led the first three laps of the All Star feature but it was Brett Bieber who raced to the inside of Lashley to take the lead on lap four as the pair raced down the backstretch. Bieber led the way over Lashley and Christopher Laureigh through lap five but it was Laureigh who took the lead on a lap six restart.

Bieber battled back but Laureigh held the lead and raced to the win over Bieber, Hunter Handelong, Austin Walls and Darien Danyluk. Handelong and Danyluk were making their first Spirit starts of the season.

Lashley finished sixth followed by William Evans III, Axle LeRoy, Ethan Miller and Ken Matthews.

Hannah Kormann raced to her third win of the season in the Junior Slingshots after taking the lead from David Morrison on a lap eight restart. Khloe Dennis raced to a third place finish over Logan Showers and Tommy Morris. Three time winner, Waylon Wolf finished sixth with EJ Hatch, Tyler O’Neill, Danny Kurtz and Anna Strachko rounding out the top ten.

The Stage One Modifieds made their second appearance of the season on the Spirit quarter mile and put on an exciting twenty-five lap feature event. Jon Keller looked to be on the way to the win but a last lap restart set-up a challenge for the lead as Richie Keller raced by brother, Jon coming to the checkered. Following the Keller brothers across the stripe were previous winner, Brett Smith, Carter Mullins and Jake Moyer.

This Friday night, the Spirit Auto Center quarter mile will see action from the Mid Atlantic Sprint Series, the Victory Fuel Wingless Sprints, Four Cylinder and the Speedway Entertainment All Star and Junior Slingshots. The 600 and 270 Micros sprints will race on Sunday as part of the opening event for the 600 Speedweek. The Junior Sprints will also be part of Sunday’s show.
