MCCULLOUGH & JONES TAKE FIRST OF SEASON

THOMAS, BEALER, KING REPEAT;

MCCULLOUGH & JONES TAKE FIRST OF SEASON

     Another full schedule of events were completed on Friday night at Spirit Auto Center Speedway with Luke Thomas winning the wingless 600cc Micro Sprint feature.  Pat Bealer won his sixth feature of the season in the 270cc Micro Sprint event with Joe King, Jr. making a return in the ServPro Four Cylinder feature.  The 2014 Poker series Slingshot champion, Dave McCullough won the 20-lap Speedway’s All-Star Bagel Stop and Derek Jones won his first Eight Cylinder Enduro event.

     Ed Barber III jumped out to the lead at the start of the wingless 600cc Micro Sprint feature from his fourth starting position to lead the first lap with Jon Keller taking over to lead the second lap.  Thomas, who started fifth, took over by lap three.  Thomas remained at the point with Nick Havens giving chase.  Havens passed Thomas in the third turn on lap eight but Thomas was able to regain the top spot by the start finish line.  Havens gave chase until he broke with five laps remaining.  Barber III brought out the red flag when he flipped in the third turn with two laps remaining.  Barber was uninjured but done for the night.  Thomas pulled away from Steve Bracall on the restart and to record the win.  Bracall finished second with Travis Hill, Jermain Godshall and Jon Keller completing the top five.

     The 270cc Micro Sprint feature got off to a rough start as Gary Waegel drove up and over Brandon Pavel and flipped at the start/finish line.  All drivers were uninjured but the incident eliminated Pavel, Waegel and John Blanda.  Bealer assumed the lead on the second attempt and never look back.  270cc point leader, Tyler Reinhardt finished second with Colin Bustard, third followed by Ryan Wozunk and Rich Keller.

     King led the entire distance to record his first win since April in the ServPro Four Cylinder division.  John Webster chased King the entire distance to finish second followed by Art Knapp, Chris Sammons and Rick Burnham.

     McCullough scored his first win of 2016 taking over the lead from Dave Morrell and then pulling away from the field.  Derek Bell was third followed by Steve Schenker and Lou Partite.

     Derek Jones, who started sixth, grabbed the lead on the opening lap and led the entire distance to record his first ever win at the speedway.  Tom Wolf finished second followed by current point leader, Lee Allen.  Christopher Allen and Vinnie Troia finished fourth and fifth.
