Bridgeport, NJ – Kyle Spence picked up his first win of the season on the Spirit Auto Center Speedway, becoming the sixth different winner this season in Hyper Racing/EVO Injection 600 Micro Sprints.  Alex Swift won for the second time in Friday night action in Spirit 270 Micro Sprint.  Amanda Angstadt became a four-time winner in the All Star Slingshots.

Spence’s victory came at the end of twenty laps as current point leader, Damon Paul chased him to the checkered flag.

Connor Gross and PJ Williams led the field to the green flag with Williams jumping into the lead.  Gross was immediately feeling the pressure of reigning 600 Champion, Matt Smith as challenged for second.  Gross regained the runner-up spot as a three way battle ensued for third with Spence, Tyler Lindsay and Paul battling for position with five laps scored.

Williams led the way through two lap eight restarts but on the second try, Williams found himself between Spence and Paul as the raced for the lead.  Spence came away with the lead, running the outside, with Paul racing the inside to take over second.  At halfway, Spence led Paul, Williams, Smith and Gross.

Smith and Williams raced side by side for third with Smith taking the spot just before five to go.  Paul closed in on Spence, even showing his nose to the leader with a run to the inside off turn two, but Spence was able to hold on to the lead.

Spence won the race to the checkered over Paul, Smith, Williams and Gross.  Joey Amantea finished sixth after challenging Gross for position on the final lap.  Tyler Lindsay, Chris Fenimore, Bobby Butler and Wayne Scott, Jr. rounded out the top ten.

With one race left, Paul is leading the points over Bobby Butler and Buddy Schweibinz.

After an engine change between the heat and feature, Nick Walton sat on the pole for the 270 Micro Sprint feature but it was Alex Swift who came away with the lead at the end of lap one.

Swift led every lap of the twenty lap feature that ran sixteen green flag laps before the caution waved for Kyle Weiss who ran into trouble on the homestretch.  Cureent point leader, Nick Skias, took over second after the caution after doing battle with Walton.

Swift led the way to the finish followed by Skias, Walton, Ken Andreas and Barry Pollard.  The win moved Swift four point closer to Skias who leads the points by eight going into the final points race fo the season.

It was a special night for Swift and the John Blanda team who dedicated a bench to the speedway in memory of Blanda’s mother-in-law,    who attended the races at Bridgeport on a weekly basis fot twenty-five years before passing away earlier this year.

Amanda Angstadt drew the pole for the All Star Slingshot feature event and led every lap to win her fourth feature of the season.  Angstadt now has wins on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Spirit Speedway.

Michael Beckett challenged Angstadt for the lead on several occasions but fell just short of the top spot.  Beckett’s second place finish moved him four points closer to Ryan Davey who leads the points by eight going into the final night of point competition.

Angstadt led the way to the finish over Beckett, Davey, Tomas Mowery and Dave Morrell.

The Hyper Racing/EVO Injection 600 Micro Sprints and 270 Micros return to Spirit Speedway for Championship night next Friday with racing getting underway following hot laps at 7:15.  The All Star Slingshots will finalize their championship the next day with a Saturday Matinee performance prior to the start of racing action on the 4/10 mile track of the Bridgeport Motorsports Park.
