Skyscraper III to take place at Spirit Speedway in October

Bridgeport, NJ – The third annual ‘Skyscraper’ event will take place once again at the Spirit Speedway in just four weeks.  This colossal event, is one that is talked about all year long and highly anticipated by drivers from near and far.  For two straight Octobers, Delaware’s Matt Smith and New Jersey’s Jacob Hendershot were able to lay claim to whopping pay days thus making their seasons complete.  The question is can either driver ‘three-peat’ and keep their names as the only winners of the Skyscraper in the history books at Spirit’s ¼ mile.

Friday, October 4 through Sunday October 6 is the weekend that every Micro Sprint driver has had circled on their his/her calendar since mid-January.  “The last couple of years, this race weekend was honestly such an awesome event.  It’s been more than just a race.  It’s been weekends full of stories, wheel to wheel racing, fun, excitement, prizes, partying, camping, contingencies, and money….yea lots of money,” general manager Danny Serrano reflected.

“Micro Sprint racing has grown leaps and bounds in the past couple of years.  And Spirit Speedway is a glad to be part of it,” Serrano expressed.  “With Speedweek taking off, the DIRT Indoor Nationals in Trenton, and of course the Skyscraper, joining the likes of the Lanco’s Labor Day Shoot-out, Greenwood’s Blaise Alexander Memorial, and Linda’s Nationals – these drivers are getting to showcase their talents in meaningful races…it’s a pretty cool deal if you ask me.”

In 2018, over $54,000 in purse, bonuses, and contingencies were rewarded to the 600 and 270 micro sprints at Skyscraper II.  “The companies that have gotten involved have been tremendous and the drivers are absolutely grateful for their involvement-whether it’s a contingency product, or lap sponsors for Saturday’s heat races, or fast time bonuses, these guys have an opportunity to make $$$ every time they hit the track.  Last year we added the 270 Winners Classic and the U6SA 600 Showdown to Friday night.  They’ll be back this year along with the dual heats on Saturday and of course the after party!” Serrano was quick to point out.  “Guys have been reaching out to me already wanting to register for the Skyscraper…well, they got their wish.”

“The Skyscraper is definitely something different for the racers.  The traditional formats and purses were something that we wanted to stand out from the rest. I’m pretty sure we’ve that the past couple of seasons.  We’re looking at some extra opportunities this year, as several businesses have already asked to be a part of ‘Skyscraper III’ that weren’t involved last October.  The best of the best in Micro Sprint racing will be on hand and I know so many ‘dark horses’ are chomping at the bit for their moment to make history,” Serrano added.
