Bridgeport, NJ – Friday night racing was as hot as the August night when Spirit Auto Center Speedway presented their three division show.

All three winners made return visits to the Weaknecht Archery Victory Lane as Connor Gross picked up his second win of the season with a late race pass in the Hyper Racing Evo Injection 600 Micro Sprint feature.  Alex Swift now leads the 270 Micro Sprints with six wins after adding another victory to his total on Friday night.  Michael Beckett celebrated his first ever All Star Slingshot win earlier this season and after many runner-up finishes, Beckett was able to add a second victory to his record.

Eric Bodine got behind the wheel of his dad’s No.99 in the 600 events.  Bodine was home from Montana on a visit and returned to competition for the length of his stay.  Bodine drew the pole for the start of the twenty-five lap main event and grabbed the lead on the start.  Despite pressure from Steven Bracall in the early going, it was clear sailing for Bodine for twenty laps.

While Bodine raced ahead, Connor Gross was advancing through the field.  Gross started in ninth and had made his way to second by halfway.  He immediately went to work on Bodine’s lead when the race’s first and only caution flag waved for the cars of jJayson Conover and Olivia Haworth in turn four.

With just five laps to go, Bodine’s lead was erased as the field lined up nose to tail for the single file restart.  Bodine held on to the lead but Gross was pressuring.  On lap twenty-three, the two cars took the two to go sign as they raced side by side down the homestretch.  Gross pulled ahead on lap twenty-four and grabbed the win after just scoring his career first victory just two weeks ago.

Bodine finished second followed by PJ Williams who won his first race of the season last week.  Bracall finished third after a battle with Williams for the position and Frank Holmes had another strong run to round out the top five.

Alex Swift used a lap twelve restart to wrestle the lead away from Nick Skias to score his sixth win of the season.

Nick Walton was the early race leader, leading the first six laps before mechanical issues sent him pitside.  Nick Skias became the race’s new leader, looking for his sixth win of the season.  Swift caught Skias and then used a restart on lap twelve to move ahead.  Swift led all the way to the checkered followed by Skias, Lee Reinhardt, John Wagner and Tommy Rinck.

After picking up his first ever All Star Slingshot victory earlier in the season, sixteen year old Michael Beckett has been anxiously pursuing that second win.  After accumulating six runner-up finishes, Beckett was finally able to add that second win to his list of accomplishments.  After drawing the pole for his starting position, Beckett led every lap of the twenty lap feature event.  Current point leader, Amanda Angstadt moved into second on lap two but Beckett was able to maintain a good lead over the second place competitor.  Defending Slingshot champion, Ryan Davey finished third with team mates, Tomas Mowery and PJ Bozowski rounding out the top five.
