Bridgeport, NJ – It may be the month of August but Bridgeport’s quarter mile is still producing first time winners!

On Friday night, Shea Wills raced to his first ever victory in the Hyper Racing 600s. This is Wills’ first season in 600s. Joe Dopke raced to the win in the AC Racing Products 270s in the Burgess No.71 for their first win of the season. Hannah Kormann raced to win number four in the Speedway Entertainment All Star Slingshots while David Morrison raced to the win in the Junior Slingshots. Jonathan Laureigh picked up the win in the Smith Fabrication Stage 1 Modifieds.

Shea Wills earned his first win in the Hyper Racing 600s in his first season of competition including 600s. Wills has competed in 270s as well as Four Cylinders, SpeedSTRS and currently competes with the Victory Fuel Wingless Sprints.

Wills’ crew members drew the pole for his driver and Wills never gave up the lead, even with some heavy pressure from Wayne Scott. “I really don’t like starting on the pole,” Wills explained. “I’d rather start third or fourth. There’s nowhere to go from the pole!” But even a caution on the last lap couldn’t deter Wills who concentrated on just hitting his marks. Wayne Scott finished second followed by Robert Pierce, Jay Hartman and Chris Fenimore. Dan Leaper finished sixth with Geordan Marrero, Lavar Scott, Tommy Rinck and Devon Devorack.

Wills’ first win came after just a handle of races this season.

Joe Dopke celebrated victory with car owners Zack and Liz Burgess in the winged 270 feature. This team has been working hard to improve their performance this season and Friday’s victory goes a long way in that effort. Dopke raced to the checkered ahead of Josh Anderson, Billy Gray, Dylan Pence and Anthony Kane. Andrew Locuson finishef sixth followed by Tommy Rinck who did double duty in the 600s on Friday night. Cole Wyers finished eighth followed by his dad, Jim Wyers and Ian John.

Hannah Kormann outraced Charlie Moore to capture her fourth win of the season on the Bridgeport quarter mile. Nick Tomlinson finished third followed by Tyler Truex and Carl Taylor. Finishing sixth through tenth were Charlie Geibel, Mike Walsh, Jason Kohler, Dave Morrell and Noah Hosking.

David Morrison returned to Insta Signs Plus Victory Lane after picking up another win in the Junior Slingshots. Khloe Dennis trailed Morrison to the checkered followed by Kenna Evans, Keegan Scott and Danica Banks. Danny Kurtz finished sixth with Danica Weinberger, Kasey Peck, Luke Whitney and Austin Whitby rounding out the top ten.

Defending All Star Slingshot Champion, Jonathan Laureigh raced to victory in the Stage One Modified feature, beating his brother, Chris to the checkered. Tyler Truex finished third followed by Payton Cassel and Owen Cassel.
