Bridgeport, NJ – The Bridgeport quarter mile presented the annual Amy Barber Memorial Race to honor the memory for the former Bridgeport staff member.  In addition to her role as a car owner of a 600 Micro Sprint with her husband, Ed, Amy served the track in many capacities from the ticket booth to the ambulance before she lost her battle to a lengthy illness.  Her family and friends support this event in her honor.
Tommy Kunsman picked up the $1,000 prize money in the Hyper Racing 600s. Lee Nardelli, who family also has deep roots in Bridgeport racing, raced to victory in the AC Racing Products Winged 270 feature.  Kylin Evans was able to avoid a racing incident in front of her to race to her fourth win in the Speedway Entertainment Junior Slingshots.  Jonathan Laureigh returned to the Insta Signs Victory Lane in the Smith Fabrication Stage 1 Modifieds while Tim White was victorious in the first of two nights of racing for the Mod Lites.
Sam LaMothe drew the pole for the start of the 600 feature with Kunsman starting to his outside.  Kunsman grabbed the lead on the first lap and never looked back, in spite of seven cautions in the first nine laps of the race. Current point leader, Chris Fenimore, Dylan Kontra and former track champion, Connor Gross had a heated battle for second that lasted throughout the race.
Kunsman drove to the win unchallenged.  Gross won the battle for second followed by Fenimore, Kontra and Brett Michalski.  Dan Leaper, Lukas Kostic, Geordan Marerro. Kenny Miller III and Gavin Marerro completed the top ten.
In spite of not being a weekly contender, Kunsman remains one of leading winners on the quarter mile.
Lee Nardelli well remembers the Amy Barber and the many roles
she played during racing events. “She was a good person,” Nardelli stated.
Nardelli had a near perfect race night after winning his heat race and then drawing the pole for the feature.  Nardelli led from the green to the checkered in spite of reigning track champion, Alex Swift in second and numerous restarts.  Nardelli took the win in the Hussert No. 20 over Swift, Billy Grey, Joe Dopke and Josh Anderson.  Rounding out the top ten were Dylan Pence, Anthony Kane, Tyler Gent, Jimmy Wyers and Brett Estep.
Kylin Evans, the younger of the Evans sisters, raced to her fourth win of the season in the Junior Slingshots. This division has grown in leaps and bounds since added to the Friday night schedule by track owner, Doug Rose.  This division is made up of the youngest drivers in weekend competition.
Kenna Evans is the current point leader in the Junior Slingshots.  She started in front of Kylin but was involved in a racing incident that had her restarting in the rear.  Luckily, Kylin was able to avoid the incident and went right back to work, racing into the lead in just a few laps.  “Patience” – having patience is what Kylin has learned.  Racing out in front, Kylin didn’t know that her sister raced her way up to second by the end of the race.  Carson Schirmer finished third followed by David Morrison and Keegan Scott.
Angel Whitby finished sixth with Jack Brey, Danny Kurtz, Luke Whitby and Bradley Dennis completing the top ten.
Jonathan Laureigh added another win to his list of successes this season in the Stage 1 Midifieds.  Carter Mullibs finished second followed by 600 driver. Dylan Kontra in third.  JTBierman was fourth followed by Owen Cassel in fifth.
Tim White picked up the Friday night win in the Modlites over Brayden Benson and 600 competitor, Luke Thomas.
