Bridgeport, NJ – Tommy Kunsman was the first driver to repeat in the Hyper Racing EVO Injection 600 Micro Sprints earlier this season. On Sunday, Kunsman became the first three-time winner on the Spirit quarter mile in 2022 as he raced to the win in the twenty-five lap feature event for the second Poker Series event of the year, on Cassidy Painting night at the track.

Alex Swift led just one lap to capture the win and the Ace in the Winged 270 Micro Sprints while Cody Kline raced to the win in the All Star Slingshot feature. Christopher Buffalino raced to the flag-to-flag victory in the Junior All Stars.

Polesitter, Jackson White led the field for the first lap of the 600 Micro Sprint feature event before Briggs Danner went to the outside with Dave Bodine’s No. 99 to take the lead on the second lap. Kunsman raced into second from his sixth place start on lap three and then closed in on race leader, Danner. Kunsman raced with Danner for several laps before taking the lead on lap nine.

Several restarts restacked the field but Kunsman had the car to beat on Sunday evening. Danner felt some pressure from Connor Gross and Gary Bozowski but was able to race home in second at the end of twenty-five laps. Gross finished third followed by Bozowski and Kyle Spence who raced the Rodota Trucking No. R7 into fifth after starting back in the twenty-first spot.

After spending some time among the top five, PJ Williams finished sixth followed by Michael Nolf, Dakota Bartlet, Frank Holmes and Olivia Haworth to complete the top ten at the checkered.

Lee Nardelli was behind the wheel of his brother, George’s winged 270 Micro Sprint. Nardelli grabbed the lead on the start and was able to race away from the field while Nick Walton, Tommy Rinck, Nick Skias and Alex Swift jockeyed for top five positions.

Nardelli took the white flag and appeared to be headed to victory when a puff of smoke indicated that his race was over just one lap short of the finish. Swift inherited the lead and led the final lap for the win. Tommy Rinck finished second with Nick Walton taking third over Blake Esham and Jimmy Wagner.

Cody Kline has always said that he loves the Spirit quarter mile but work and distance keeps Kline from competing on a more regular basis. That never seems to stop Kline from getting to Victory Lane during his infrequent visits. And Sunday was no exception!

Kline took the lead on the start and never looked back. Amanda Angstadt held off the challenges of point leader, Michael Beckett to finish second. Beckett finished third over Ryan Dave and Scott Phillip.

Christopher Buffalino took the win in the Junior Slingshot feature event and collected an Ace for his efforts over Brayden Morrison. The win gave Buffalino an Ace for his 2022 Poker Series hand.
