Bridgeport, NJ – Action returns to the Spirit Auto Center quarter mile this Friday night. After losing several events to the weather, the race teams are more than ready to get back on the track and renew the wheel-to-wheel battles that are the trademark of the Friday night action.

After four races, the first repeat winner is still being sought in both the Hyper Racing Evo Injection 600 Micro Sprints as well as the 270 Micro Sprints.

Tommy Kunsman, Luke Thomas, Gary Bozowski and Pat Bealer each have one win to their credit this season in the 600 ranks. A mere forty-two points separate the top five in points with two time past champion, Matt Smith leading the way, just fourteen points ahead of Bozowski. Chris Fenimore sits in third, just three points behind second. Thomas and Bealer complete the top five after four races.

Averaging more than thirty cars in the Friday night field, there are many drivers who are still seeking their first win of the season, including point leader, Smith, defending champion, Connor Gross and Bozowski’s Cobb Mills team mate, Steve Bracall.

Nick Walton, Nick Skias, Alex Swift and Lee Reinhardt have all reached the Weaknecht Archery Victory Lane on a single occasion but no one has been able to repeat to date. Just twenty-four points separate the top three point men – Swift, Skias and Joe Dopke. Reinhardt was the most recent winner, making his first appearance of the 2022 season and taking home the win.

Both Swift and Skias are past champions and bring their best game to every race. Dopke has returned to 270 action this season and has been a consistent top five competitor. Lee Nardelli and the Huesser No. 20 have been finding more speed every week and hope to break into the winner’s circle soon.

The All Star Slingshots have been dominated by defending champion, Amanda Angstadt and Michael Beckett, each with two victories this season. Beckett currently leads the point standings – just ten points over past champion, Ryan Davey. Angstadt is sitting third in points – just thirty-eight points out of first.

A fourth division was added this season on the Spirit quarter mile. The Junior Slingshots received approval from the New Jersey State Police just prior to the start of the season. Braydon Morrison has dominated the win category but rookie, Cody Williamson is showing more and more speed in every race.

Several special events highlight the schedule as the All Star Slingshots have their first Saturday matinee scheduled for Saturday, June 11th. The Slingshots will appear prior to the start of the Saturday night races on the high banks of the Bridgeport 4/10th mile track, giving the Saturday night fans a look at the Friday night competitors. Friday night, June 24th is a Poker Series event. Tuesday, July 19 marks the Hyper Racing Speedweeks for the 600s where the best of the best will compete for the Speedweeks Championship.

The fields continue to grow weekly and the competition couldn’t be any closer. The Friday night action is a great way to get your racing weekend started!

The racing is tight. The competition is intense. And the excitement builds with each passing week of the 2022 season.
