Bridgeport, NJ – Whitey Kidd III made his first visit to the Spirit Auto Center Speedway and went home a winner after a twenty-five lap battle for the lead in the Hyper Racing Evo Injection 600 Micro Sprints.  Nick Skias picked up his second Spirit victory of the season after overcoming incredible odds just to make it to the 270 Micro Sprint feature event.  Amanda Angstadt, the defending Poker Series Champion, raced to her first 2021 win of the season in the All Star Slingshot feature.

The luck of the draw put Kidd on the pole for the start of the 25 lap 600 Micro Sprint feature but he had plenty of company in the way of challengers from beginning to end.

Connor Gross raced into second from his third place start and quickly challenged Kidd for the lead.  Gross was also feeling the heat from Billy Koch followed by Preston Lattomus and Christian Bruno.

Multiple cautions resulting in frequent restarts that kept the field close together, denying Kidd the opportunity to pull away from his challengers.  Koch and Gross raced side by side for many laps and challenged for the lead on several occasions until Steve Bracall raced the Cobbs Mill entry into second just before half way.

Bracall kept the pressure on Kidd as the race neared its final stage.  With five to go, Kidd led Bracall, Koch, Gross and Wayne Scott who won the battle for fifth with Christian Bruno.

With Kidd out in front, Koch raced with Bracall for the runner-up spot and with just two laps to go, Koch regained second.

Kidd picked up the win over Koch, Bracall, Gross and Scott.  Bruno, Lattomus, Steve Snyder, John Barnett and Tyler DeVault rounded out the top ten.

The team of Palmucci and Skias started out their night with engine problems in warm-ups.  That was followed by more engine problems in the heat race, putting Skias in the final starting spot for the feature.

Within the first five laps, Skias raced in the top five as John Wagner, Tyler Grau and Alex Swift led the way.  Skias raced his way into the lead on lap seven.  “Once we got to five laps, I thought we were okay,” Skias related after his win.  “I didn’t know if it would make a lap before that.”

Skias raced to his second consecutive 270 victory over Swift, Grau, Tommy Rinck and Shea Wills.

Amanda Angstadt and her well prepared No. 55A raced to the flag to flag victory in the All Star Slingshot feature event.  Angstadt raced ahead of the field by a comfortable margin with all of the racing action taking place behind the leader.

Michael Beckett challenged for second in the final laps but Tomas Mowery regained the runner-up spot on the final lap.  Tim Franks raced to a fourth place finish as the result of a late race charge into the top five.  Rookie, PJ Bosowski finished fifth.

The Spirit Auto Center Speedway will be idle on Friday night with the action returning to the quarter mile on Sunday for the second hand of the 2021 Poker Series.
