Bridgeport, NJ – Just five days after winning in the 2022 Poker Series event on the Spirit Auto Center Speedway quarter mile, Tommy Kunsman and Alex Swift returned on Friday night and added to their win totals on On the High Side Apparel Night at the track. Michael Beckett picked up his sixth win of the season in the All Star Slingshots, tying him with Amanda Angstadt’s six victories so far this season. Christopher Buffalino dominated the Junior Slingshots to capture his sixth win of the season.

Kunsman is not a regular Friday night competitor on the Spirit Auto Center Speedway quarter mile. This season, Kunsman has divided his time between his Micro Sprint and his USAC East Coast Wingless Sprint car. That limited schedule has not stopped him from being the first to win twice on the quarter mile where eleven different drivers have recorded wins this season. Kunsman became the first to win three times during last Sunday’s Poker Series event and then backed it up with another win on Friday night to make his total four wins of the 2022 season.

When Kunsman drew the pole for the start of the twenty-five lap Hyper Racing/EVO Injection feature, there were many who felt that the race had already been decided but Chris Fenimore had other ideas.

Kunsman grabbed the lead on the start with Matt Smith in second. Fenimore took over second on a lap three restart and stuck with the leader through the first ten laps. Fenimore raced by Kunsman to take the lead on a lap eleven restart, using the outside line to do us. Fenimore led through lap fifteen when Kunsman was able to reclaim the lead. After starting on the pole, Kunsman explained the lead change this way. “When you run out front like that, you really don’t know how hard you have to run,” the feature winner explained. Fenimore defined that for Kunsman.

Pat Bealer raced into third from his twelfth place start just before halfway and then kept pace with Kunsman and Fenimore but was never in a position to challenge for second. Gary Bozowski finished fourth after racing with Bealer and current point leader, Matt Smith for position. Smith rounded out the top five. 2021 Champion, Connor Gross finished sixth followed by Tim Buckwalter in the Kontra No. 12, Olivia Haworth, Cole Niebert and Lavar Scott in the Landwher No. 41.

Jimmy Wagner grabbed the lead at the start of the Winged 270 feature and led through the first four laps while Alex Swift and Tommy Rinck battled for second. Nick Skias took the lead on lap five and led through the next the way through lap thirteen when Swift raced his way to the front. Swift went on to capture his seventh win of the season over Skias, Nick Walton, Rinck and Tommy Kunsman who did double duty in preparation for the upcoming Skyscraper event. Billy Gray, Joe Dopke, Lee Nardelli, John West and Trevor Waegel rounded out the top ten.

Point Leader, Michael Beckett raced to his sixth win of the season in the All Star Slingshots. Amanda Angstadt moved into second on the first lap but PJ Bozowski pressured the defending champion until he was able to take over second on lap ten.

Beckett took the win over Bozowski, Angstadt, Ryan Dave and Dave Morrell.

Christian Buffalino raced to his sixth win of the season in a flag-to-flag victory over Brayden Morrison, Austin Walls and Carter Mullins.
