Bridgeport, NJ – It was a big night at the Spirit Auto Center Speedway on Friday as the Hyper Racing 600 Micro Sprints produced their seventh different winner of the season with Preston Lattomus and Alex Swift raced to this third win of the season as the Mason Dixon 270 Series paid their first visit to the Bridgeport quarter mile. Amanda Angstadt and Brayden Morrison continued their winning ways in Slingshot competition.
Fifteen year old Preston Lattomus raced to his first ever Spirit Victory in Friday night 600 action.
Lattomus of Lewes, DE grabbed the lead from polesitter, Gary Bozowski on the first lap and never looked back as he led the twenty-five lap race from green to checkered. Defending 600 Champion, Connor Gross chased Lattomus for twenty-four laps but the young driver was determined in his quest for his first win. Tommy Kunsman, who was the winner of the season opener, passed Gross for second on the final lap.
Lattomus led the way the checkered over Kunsman, Gross, Steven Bracall and two time track champion, Matt Smith. PJ Williams, Chris Fenimore, Ryan Boyd, Maddie Boyd and Dylan Kontra rounded out the top ten.
Five of the six 2022 race winners were in the field on Friday night – three of them started the race within the first three rows of the line-up.
After starting deep in the field for his first two wins of the season, Alex Swift drew the pole for the Winged 270 Micro Sprint feature. Swift led every lap of the main event but frequent cautions kept the competition close throughout the twenty-five laps.
Nick Skias raced in second, chasing Swift throughout the event until the five to go mark when Mason Dixon Series point leader, Cory Myers took over the runner-up spot. Five time track champion, Tyler Reinhardt took third on the final lap with Skian in fourth and Chris Locuson rounding out the top five. Billy Gray crossed the line in sixth with Lee Nardelli in seventh, rebounding from an early race tangle. Tommy Rinck, Nick Walton and Stevie Daron completed the top ten at the checkered.
Thirty-five 270s competed for starting spots in the feature line-up.
The 270s also received Poker Series cards for their first hand of the 2022 Poker Series, Swift starts out with an Ace with each of the top thirteen finishers receiving a card down to a deuce for Poker Series consideration.
Amanda Angstadt raced to her fourth win of the season in the All Star Slingshots with Dave Morrell racing to a runner-up finish for his best performance of the season. Scott Phillip, Michael Beckett and Andrew Williams made up the top five at the finish line.
Braydon Morrision picked up the win in the Junior Slingshots over Cody Williamson.
